As a dual-chapter of the American Correctional Association since 1980, the Illinois Correctional Association is dedicated to:

  1. The professional advancement of the correctional field in Illinois at Federal, state, and county jurisdictions;
  2. Promoting pride and service in the profession through organizational, programmatic, and individual representation of agencies in corrections and related fields.

Recognizing that corrections touches all areas of criminal justice, the ICA emphasizes building bridges between corrections, law enforcement, and others, including scholars, legislators, students, and the community.  Primary goals include supporting professional training and development, emphasizing institutional standards, and expanding public awareness of the complexity of, and challenges to, criminal justice agencies.
